Community Day

On Thursday, 3rd March, IMBA set up a booth for Community Day!

Here's our IMBA team without Lee Ying and Karthigah :D

We had curious Secondary 2 students coming by to look at our booth. For those who are interested in joining us for our outreach adventures, you can email us at imbatwentyeleven@gmail.com to tell us your particulars. Anyone and everyone is welcome!

The boards were made by us in just 2 hours!

Our next outreach session would be on 19 March at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

About Us!

We are a group of RI (JC) girls doing a Service Learning project called Macaques and Me (MnM). This project, orginally a Community Problem Solving project done by our seniors, was called Monkey Business.

Why Macaques and Me?

Our aim is to educate the public (which we chose to focus on young children) about the long-tailed macaques, a native species of Singapore. We then hope through this sharing of knowledge that human-macaque conflict is reduced such that both can co-exist harmoniously, and reducing problems such as macaques feeding on human food or other monkey attacks.

We chose to name ourselves "Macaques and Me" so as to indicate the familiarity and understanding of the children towards macaques we hope to achieve through this project.

What do we do?

Other than going on regular sessions down to Nature Reserves, we now hold sessions at National Libraries around Singapore in hopes of reaching out to more children that will help us spread the message further.
