13 Dec: Cheng San Library

All photos taken by Hui Hsien (:

Earlier this month, we went to Cheng San Library for our latest outreach session! It was the second outreach after our tiring promos and OP period, and we were really glad to see the cute little kids again (:

Set up!

Listening attentively

At first we were worried as the kids were very quiet during the puppet show, but it turns out that they were listening really attentively and were all enthusiastically answering our Q&A questions and sharing their macaque encounters!

30 June: Gardens by the Bay

All photos taken by Claudia (:

About six months ago, we went down to Gardens by the Bay to help out in the JGIS booth as well as to spread awareness about our cause with more tourists and Singaporeans there. The 6 of us, including Karthigah, went around the area talking little kids and sharing about the long tailed macaques. It was a fun and eventful day, and we learnt alot about other green initatives by other groups of individuals. Not to mention, we got to see a live-sized long-tailed macaque figure and other cool animals of Singapore.

10th March: Queenstown Library

After a long and arduous journey to Queenstown Library which was situated at a relatively deserted place, we managed to gather a small group of children at the Programme Zone to participate in our activities.

Although there were very few kids, approximately 15, the session was very rewarding for us, and hopefully for them us well. A smaller number of children meant that we could focus on their learning and ensure that they could remember their newly acquired knowledge.

Many of the kids enjoyed learning and colouring, and we had fun sharing our experiences with the macaques with them. We hope that through this activity, they will not only learn new knowledge, but also apply it and share it with their family and friends when they visit nature reserves.

This boy shared with us that he was going to make a monkey mask for his mother, and even added his own "tail" to make it seem more like a macaque! (:

The children had fun wearing our macaque puppet show props and taking photos too!

Aww sadness

But it's okay cos you'll still see us going around libraries and trying to come up with a better skit that kids actually listen to.

PLEASE JOIN US
Will some group in RGS please take IMBA up as their SL project! You'll get to know us, the awesome people, and be awesome as well!

Anyway, since we are now considered a "new group", hui hsien made this super cute logo!!

Sharifah and Safiayah promise not to feed monkeys and not to use plastic bags when around monkeys!

We will be having another children session at the National Library Building on 26th November, 2-3pm. Come down and make a promise too!
