Fear grin
- Monkeys bare their teeth when they feel threatened (e.g. when you go too near it)
- Step back from the monkey immediately when you see this.
- This is often mistaken for smiling.

Lip-smacking
- They smack their lips together when they are happy (:
- They make a "tu-tu" sounds to display affection for the other party.

Angry
- When monkeys are aggressive, they raise their eyebrows and shape their mouths like an 'O', and hunches it shoulders forward towards you.
- It is a sign for intruders to back off, before they attack.
Sleepy
- Like me and you, monkeys yawn when they are sleepy.
- This is often mistaken for aggression as the monkeys look intimidating while yawning.
